Important rules for community shop use:
Site 3 coLaboratory is a busy and vibrant shared creative space. To help mitigate some of the inherent chaos that comes from that and make sure it stays comfortably usable to everyone who comes in to create, we need to be mindful of the needs of others and willing to pitch in.
- Keep the shop clean. Always try to leave the shop cleaner than you found it, and put everything you use back into its proper place and take an extra 10 mins to wipe down a surface you didn’t dirty or put away a tool you didn’t use.
- Carry out food waste. Sometimes it takes weeks for bins to fill up, please use them only for non-perishable garbage. This is especially important in warmer months as the Fruit Flies can be relentless.
- Bring your own materials and consumables (glue, sanding belts, paint, screws, etc.). If you use materials and consumables from the shop's stock, please make a payment into the donation/dues box. Wood and plastic available in the shop have prices clearly marked right on the piece, and other areas have signs with suggested donations (e.g. sewing needles for the machines, or resistors and parts near the electronics bench).
- If you have an active project taking up space at the shop (after assembling, gluing or painting), place the project out of the way, take a picture and send an email to the list or a Discord message in the appropriate channel noting when it will be removed. Label it with your name and date of when it will get moved as well!
- If you are using the communal materials storages (for example, the wood storage in the main downstairs workroom), Very Clearly Label your materials with your name and how long its been there. Unlabeled materials may be freely claimed by anyone for any shop or member project! Remember: NO NAME, FAIR GAME!
- If you are storing drinks and food in the fridge, please remember it’s a very small device for a very large group of people. Remove your food leftovers on your way out of the building, and please limit drink storage to three cans. Be sure to remember to write your name or initials on your cans! Nameless cans are assumed to be donations & can be claimed by anyone who’s thirsty! Remember once again: NO NAME, FAIR GAME!
- Personal storage: We have a limited supply of lockers available to rent for members.
- Half of a red locker, about 20”x20”x9”, for $10 a month (tax included)
- Half of a grey locker, about 2’x2’x3’, for $20 a month (tax included)
